In deiner Haut
Ich lade euch zum Tanz mit Venus ein. Sie ist 
gefüllt und ihr Körper ist offen. Ich stecke 
mich in ihre Haut. Ich bin stärker. Ich trinke 
Wein und Milch. Sie isst Hefe, Schokolade und 
Lakritz und lacht laut. Ich verwechsle Cellulite 
und Cellulose. Ich bin ohnmächtig und sie schläft 
seit 30 000 Jahren. Es ist eine betrunkene Liebe. 
All das neu zu erobern wird lustig und heilend. 
Kommt, wir tanzen mit Venus!

Biografie: Mirka Raito ist eine finnische bildende Künstlerin. 
Sie studierte an der Kunstakademie in Helsinki und schloss 2002 ihr Studium 
im Fachbereich Malerei (MA) ab. Seit 2003 lebt sie in Hamburg und absolvierte 
2006-08 ein Aufbaustudium an der HfbK. Seit mehr als 20 Jahren präsentiert sie 
ihre Arbeit in Einzel- und Gruppenausstellungen in Finnland und Deutschland.
 
Raito ist ein Gründungsmitglied des Künstlerkollektivs JOKAklubi (2009-). 
Die Zusammenarbeit mit den langjährigen Kolleginnen und bildenden Künstlerinnen
Niina Lehtonen Braun & Tellervo Kalleinen spielt eine bedeutende Rolle in Raitos 
künstlerischen Aktivitäten. Gemeinsam macht das Trio partizipative Performances, 
Events, Audio- und Videoarbeiten.
Mirka Raitos Arbeit umfasst verschiedene Medien wie Malerei, Zeichnung, 
Installation, Performance und Collage. Wesentlich für ihre künstlerische Arbeit 
sind intuitive und spielerische Arbeitsweisen sowie eine emotionale und intime 
Atmosphäre. Aktuell wird Raito durch ein Arbeitsstipendiums der Kone Foundation 
gefördert. #koneensaatio

Under your skin

I invite you to dance with Venus. She is filled and her body is open. I crawl under her skin. I am stronger. I drink wine and milk. She eats yeast, chocolate and liquorice and laughs out loud. I mix up cellulite and cellulose. I pass out and she’s been asleep for 30,000 years. It’s drunken love. To capture all this will be funny and healing. Come, let’s dance with Venus!

Biography: Mirka Raito is a Finnish visual artist based in Hamburg, Germany. 
She studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Helsinki and graduated from the 
department of painting in 2002 (MA). Since 2003, Raito has lived in Hamburg and 
completed postgraduate studies at the Hamburg University of Arts in 2006-08. 
More than 20 years Raito has actively presented her works in solo and group exhi-
bitions in Finland and in Germany. She is one of the founding members of the artist
collective JOKAklubi (2009-). The collaboration with long-term colleagues and 
visual artists Niina Lehtonen Braun and Tellervo Kalleinen is an important part of 
Raito‘s artist activities. Together the trio makes participatory performances, 
events, audio- and video works. Mirka Raito’s work encompasses multiple mediums 
like painting, drawing, installation, performance and collage. 
Essential for her artistic work are intuitive and playful working processes as well 
as emotional and intimate atmosphere. At the moment she is working with the support 
of a Grant of Kone Foundation. #koneensaatio
